school drop off

We are having a few issues with our morning and afternoon traffic pattern.

To ensure the safety of our students and guardians using the crosswalks and being unloaded from the cars, we need you to follow these procedures:

* When dropping off students in the morning- pull in the parking lot and go immediately to the right and around the gym parking lot to the center of the parking spaces. Follow the flow of traffic around to the front of the building where adults are standing to help unload your child. Remain on the right side. Pull up all the way to the last adult standing on the curb next to the Kid's Corral doors.

Traffic flow will move faster if everyone pulls up as far as they can prior to unloading.

NEVER pass to the left side of a vehicle in the parking lot/drop-off lane. It is too dangerous to the children we are unloading.

If you are a Head Start parent, you need to pull in and drive to the left side of the drop-off lane and park on the opposite side of the curb facing the school. Always use the sidewalk and crosswalks!

No child should be dropped off on the gym parking lot side!

* When picking up your child, follow the same procedures as the morning routine.

We understand that the majority of you need to get to work or get older siblings to the hill, and we try very hard to make the traffic move along and go smoothly. Some mornings are busier than others.

Please be patient with the drivers in front of you and wait while we unload.

We also ask that you be courteous to the bus drivers and allow them to enter and exit the parking lot first. Remember,  in the afternoons when the smaller buses pull to the 4th grade awning, you are not allowed to pass them when they have their sign out.

We will have an adult directing to move on if the bus is sitting and waiting on their passengers without their sign out.

Also, remember that when your car is moving- you are in a school zone and the law is that you are to be hands-free, so please use your bluetooth or speaker if you are on your phone.

Thank you for observing these procedures at all times. And make sure anyone who picks up or drops off your child understands and adheres to these procedures.

Pandemic EBT Benefits Round 3

The Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) launched the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) program to provide extra resources for families to buy food. This program is about to launch Round 3 to provide benefits backdated to October 2020 and continuing through the 2021 school year to eligible students.  This benefit is ONLY for students that have been quarantined or in isolation due to COVID for over half of a month or for students that are learning 100% as a virtual student.  Most students in our district will not qualify for this benefit since we have been able to have in-person instruction this school year.

Please refer to this letter for more information.

Coping Skills Resource Guide

In partnership with ETSU Rural Track Medical Students and Jacob McGlamery the school based mental health clinician, we are pleased to present you with a "Coping Skills Resource Guide."  This is a guide for parents, teachers and students and contains several useful resources to help maintain good mental health especially during these trying times. Please share this with students and parents as you see fit. This guide was created by the students for their research project and a survey will be sent out later this year to gauge how effective these resources are for you. If you have any questions or comments please let me know. Thank you and have a great day!
